This applies to both USS Gateway and USS Agent
If you are experiencing unexpected behaviour with the USS Agent or USS Gateway, it may be that a proxy configuration exists for the Windows system user account. This can be left behind by third party anti-malware software or deployments of old proxy products.
To determine if a proxy is configured for the system user:
1. Download the pstools application from Microsoft
2. Extract the archive, then up a command prompt as administrator
3. Run the following command:
psexec -s -i "c:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" |
This will open up Internet Explorer whilst running as the local system user
4. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings
5. Remove or disable any configured proxy settings
6. Reboot
